Malaysian Animation is Preparing Malaysians for Covid-19 Vaccines
Ejen Ali is a big animation franchise in Malaysia. The short animation is a tribute to the frontliners (or frontline workers) in Malaysia. The video also hints at the glimpse of hopes that vaccines can provide to people.
The thumbnail for the video shows the main character (middle-bottom), Ali, holding a tube containing a blue liquid known as the vaccine. The video starts with a scene that shows Ali running a simulation of a vaccine for a virus.
In the process of delivering the vaccine, he was attacked and his teammates came to back him up.
The monsters in the video represent the Covid-19 Coronavirus. The setting of the video is on another planet, hence, every character in the video wears a face mask to allow them to breathe. The video is conveying the message that you can wear a mask and still do heavy action moves.
Here we can see an animated character of Malaysian Director-General of Health, Dr. Noor Hisham, being portrayed as one of the heroes. He even used a thermal gun as a weapon.
After a great struggle and long fights, the video ends with a scene of Ali going face-to-face with the biggest monster.
He threw the vaccine towards the monster and the video ends.
The director of the animation, Usamah Zaid Yasin, said in an interview that the video is a tribute to the hardworking frontliners in the midst of the second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak in Malaysia. The video received 8 million views with more than 196 thousand likes.
